Effective July 2026 · Akin Press Inc.

The short version

Calculators are anonymous. Your financial inputs stay in your browser and are never stored on our servers unless you explicitly request a PDF report. We collect contact details only when you ask us to send you something, and we ask permission separately before sending anything beyond what you requested.

What we collect, and when

Anonymous usage: page views and calculator-use events tied to a random session identifier — never your financial inputs, never your identity.

Report requests: your first name, email, mobile number, and province, plus a snapshot of the calculator inputs and results you asked us to turn into a report. Your phone number is verified by one-time SMS code (via Twilio) and your email by the delivery link itself.

Advisor-match requests: the topic, province, and contact preference you submit.

Consent records: whether you checked the express-consent box, when, and from what IP address — we are required to keep this under CASL.

What we do with it

Deliver the report you requested (transactional email). If — and only if — you gave express consent, we also send occasional planning-insight emails. Every one of them identifies the sender, includes our mailing address, and carries a working one-click unsubscribe that takes effect immediately and globally.

We never sell personal information. We share it only with the processors that make the service work: Supabase (database & file storage), Resend (email), Twilio (SMS verification), and Vercel (hosting) — each bound by their own data-protection terms.

Where reports live

Generated PDFs are stored in a private bucket, never publicly accessible. Download links are single-use, signed, and expire after 72 hours.

Where your information is processed

Our database and stored files live in Canada (Supabase, ca-central-1 region), and our application servers run in Montréal, Canada (Vercel). Two processors operate in the United States: Twilio (the mobile number you provide, to deliver your verification code) and Resend (your name and email address, to deliver the emails you request).

Information handled by those U.S. processors is subject to the laws of the United States, including lawful access by U.S. authorities, while in their custody. Each processor is bound by a data-processing agreement providing protection comparable to our own practices. If you prefer not to have your phone number or email processed this way, you can use every calculator without providing either — only report delivery and booking require them.

How long we keep it

Retention is enforced automatically on this schedule: report requests that are never verified are deleted after one year; generated report PDFs are deleted after 12 months (your download link expired after 72 hours regardless); lead records with no activity for 30 months are deleted, unless we have an ongoing relationship (a booked call or client engagement).

When a record is deleted — by schedule or by your request — a minimal consent tombstone (a hashed email, the consent timestamp and IP, and any unsubscribe date, with no name, phone, or behavioural data) is retained for 3 years as evidence of anti-spam law (CASL) compliance, then deleted.

Your rights (PIPEDA)

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time using the contact details on the About page. We respond within 30 days. Deletion removes your lead record, de-links and anonymizes calculator runs, and purges stored report files, keeping only the consent tombstone described above.
